Tenants Race for Space in Tallest U.S. Tower

Steel columns added to the top deck of One World Trade Center—the replacement for the twin towers destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks—made the as-of-yet unfinished building New York City's tallest skyscraper. It may become the country's tallest tower after more floors are added to the building, which isn't expected to reach its full height until 2014.
