Seven Steps to Savvy Subletting

If you're considering subletting a portion of your space, you'll want to be sure that the arrangement doesn't conflict with your rights and responsibilities as outlined in your lease. Subletting puts you in the role of a landlord—a sub-landlord, if you will—but that doesn't mean you can set aside your obligations as a tenant, even with respect to the subleased space.
