Retail Crime Continues to Rise Amid Troubled Economy

A survey conducted of America's largest retailers reports an increase in retail crime associated with an economy in distress.

According to the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), there has been continued growth in shoplifting, financial fraud, robberies and burglaries, as well as large increases in organized crime among all retail segments. RILA found: 61 percent reporting an increase in shoplifting; 55 percent reporting an increase in financial fraud; and 72 percent reporting an increase in organized crime.
