Report: D.C.-Area Retail Rates Hold Ground

Rents for Washington, D.C.-area retail space are expected to fall 2.1 percent this year, according to Marcus and Millichap Real Estate Investment Services Inc.'s annual national retail report. The report forecasts that effective rents will slump slightly to $22.56 per square foot after falling 7.5 percent last year, while asking rents will remain flat at $26.15 per square foot after a 5.2 percent decline in 2009.
