Protect Yourself During Owner Bankruptcy

Experts predict that the bankruptcy of Chicago-based General Growth Properties, the nation's second largest shopping center owner with 200 malls in 44 states, is inevitable. And it's probably just the beginning.

With the president-elect forecasting that “things will get worse before they get better,” chances are that over the next few years, there will be a large number of owner bankruptcies, says Connecticut attorney Robert A. Machson. Tenants all over the country are calling their attorneys to ask what they should do if their owner files for bankruptcy.
