Don't Let Other Tenant’s Lease Terms Dictate Yours

Whether you’re negotiating a renewal option for a new lease or negotiating a renewal of your existing lease, don’t agree simply to base your renewal terms on another tenant’s lease terms or on comparable lease transactions, also known as “lease comps,” that the owner proposes or that you may have heard about. Lease comps aren’t always reliable. Instead, start the renewal negotiations from scratch and come up with terms based on your own research.
