Don't Agree to Limit Right to Reject Renewal Rent

If you get the right to reject renewal rent that's higher than you expected or want to pay, don't let the owner limit this right—for example, by saying that you can reject it only if it's more than a set percentage higher than the rent you were paying at the end of the initial lease term. Whether you can afford or are willing to pay the renewal rent is a business decision, which you—not the owner—should make.
