Don’t Ignore Eminent Domain Risk

Eminent domain, sometimes referred to as “condemnation” or a “taking,” is the federal, local, and state government’s ability to take, for fair compensation, private property and utilize it for a public purpose. It’s not common, especially when the property owners are corporations as opposed to individuals, but if you sign a lease and fail to address the issue, you could end up with serious problems if it arises.
